Hi

Oh GREAT to hear that it where the issue  :-)=

I hope that you find a motor control board  ^-

Kind regards

Hi

I had the same issue, it where R1 and R2 that where bad.
As I recall I where unable to read the resistor fault with my multimeter, R1 and R2 failed only under load.
When I replaced them I used 1.2ohm 10W resistors (orginal it where 5W)

Hi

Just a small update to the repair log, there is a typo R24 is a 2.2ohm NOT a 220 ohm

Hi

If someone needs the eprom code for the eprom that is located on the motor driver board.
Then I have made a dump of my eprom

It need to be burned on a 27C256 eprom.

Hi

Super that the G-loc is back to life :)
I am glad that my L2 transformers worked.  :-)=

Also great with all the fine detail in the restoring process, that might be handy to know someday  ^-

Kind regards

Well some status - it seems that i can test the ADSP board in the test menu, so i have tested it - but impossible to see anything without the red color.

So i think that i need to fix the red now :)

Hi

Thanks :) - I hope that i can find out why the ADSP board is not working. =?=

My best guess at this time is to change the caps at the  APU PCB - it gives the main PCB its +15V, -21V.
I do not know if the fault is at main pcb or the ADSP pcb.. but i am thinking that it is the adsp board, because of the missing led's

As I could tell the caps i changed at the three "game boards" where the original ones from 1989 - so It might be a good idea to change all caps on the other boards too :)

I have some more Documentation here if you can use it

Bornes dédiées / Hard Drivin upright - ADSP board no lights
Mercredi 06 Mars 2019, 13:23:05 PM
Hi

I have a Hard Drivin upright that i am trying to restore

I now have managed to get the screen working (Intervideo chassis) - the issue where just some bad solder joints.
I still need to have the Red color fixed, and a new capkit.

Now i can see what the game does at startup, so before i put more energy into the monitor, I want to get the game working

When i power it on it first says that brake pedal is out of adjustment, but I can turn key to continue.

Then I get this message "ADSP timeout error"
A small video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgESNbozNaw

If i look at the diodes at the PCB the most of the lights lights up, but no light in the middle PCB does not light up at all, and that is the ADSP board, if i test the 5V at the 5V test point at the board it is 5.3V

A small video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-KDC2oGU_I

Things i have done
1.I have put in a new 10A power supply for the 5V, and adjusted the volts so that i have 5.3V at the 5V test tabs on the board.
2. Replaced all the caps on all the game PCB's -> my log can be found here https://www.dropbox.com/s/0n1nutecz4...0log.xlsx?dl=0
3. Cleaned all the socketed chips on the boards.

A note regarding the new power supply - according to the documentation i can find, there must be two sense wires (red/stripe and brown/stripe)
All my wires are red or brown with no stripe, so i have connected them all to the new power supply.

Documentation http://www.jmargolin.com/schem/HardDrivinSchem.pdf

If I test the 12V at the testpoint at the multisync pcb I get 11.5V a little low - I do not know if the ADSP board uses 12V? - there is no 12V test points at the ADSP board.

Do you know where to look to get the ADSP board working, get the LED's to light up? - if you do give me a ping :)

In summary, it seems that the L2 transformers from Per are good  ^-^
Thank you again, Per, for getting the transformers made and sending some to me. I can't thank you enough  8)

The golden rule is to check the filter capacitors, or just replace them if there is any doubt. I found out the hard way, and spent a lot of time looking for a problem which turned out to be quite simple  :-[

It might be worth checking or replacing all of your small electrolytic capacitors (eg. C13, C28, C30, C25, C26, C27, C19, C20, C21, C36, C18), it might solve (or prevent) all sorts of strange problems  :D

Next step is to put the triac back in, as well as the OP-AMP and 5V regulator for the logic circuits.

Cheers for now.

Hi

Whau - nice job  ^-^ and I am happy that my L2 transformers are working  :-)=

I have just looked in my excel sheet from when I tried to use one of my L2 transformers, an ran into the problem with low 15V.
As i can see I had changed C28 and C30  them to new 47uf... but I need to check visual at my two "spare" power supplys, if I have mounted 4.7UF... I can be...

Nice work restoring! - also all your super discovery If just I know how to use an Oscilloscope  :D

Hi

I told them that the 15v where low, but i do not know what they have changed, I also asked them for the datasheet for the new ones but i newer got it.

They wrote that they have changed the number of windings on the 15v side.

Hi

Super that they made it to you, and also relativly fast  ^-^
I hope that someone have a solution for the low volts issue.
Love to follow your repair  ^-

Hey that's a nice game room !

Hi

Thanks  :D I am also proud of my room  :D but i need more space.

Super to follow your repair  ^-- I hope that the L2 transformers arrive soon.

Your IC 9-10-11-12 (78L05 / 5 volt regulators) might also be dead and give over 5V
I have learned if they put out over 5V then the PC910 might also be fried, and need to be replaced.

Also remember to test the big diodes, the Q19 and Q22 seems always to be the one who go bad first.
