Je me suis enfin décidé à réparer le pied qui s'est cassé, l'insert rouillé a explosé !





J'ai mis un nouvel insert avec 2 plaques vissées de partout ! Ca devrait tenir !



Je vais attendre que l'autre pied lache pour faire la même chose !

La pcb est partie dernièrement au USA pour un dépannage chez Andys Arcade

Très peu ! Andy est de retour chez lui en UK et il revient au US le 10 février. C'est à partir de cette date qu'il va s'y remettre :-)

Je ne lâche pas  Tout est prêt pour faire un test ensuite (hack péritel, alim ok...)

Quelques nouvelles  Visiblement cette pcb est en très mauvais état. Voici le mail d'Andy 

"I have spent the past day and a half working on your pcb, it has many, many problems.

So far i have :

- re-soldered and re-instated the old ribbon connectors
- replaced the main CPU and support CTC controller - this allowed the game to boot and run attract mode, but with massively bad graphics
- Sound board had dips in the wrong position, giving a sound interface error which is now cleared.

the pcb will now run what looks like attract mode, but with massive graphical problems.

- replaced 8x (!) bad 74157 chips
- replaced 2x bad 74283 chips
- replaced 2x ram sockets that were bad (broken pins inside the sockets)

So, the game is now still playing attract mode, but without any text, and the sprites are still a garbled mess."

I just wanted to let you know your TRON pcb is running, with good text and backgrounds, the sprites are all still screwed up, and the sound board still reports errors.

I'm afraid i have bad news.

I simply cannot continue with this pcb, every time i work on it, other things fail and it gets worse. I fix those problems and move forward, and then other things fail.

This is a very uneconomical repair, I have spent probably 5 whole working days on it so far and it continues to fail.

So far i have replaced :

sound pcb : nothing

cpu pcb :
- z80 CPU (was dead)
- z80 CTC (was dead)
- 74ls161 @A1 (would not bootup)
- 74ls153 @G1 (no text)
- bus bar repair near CTC (lots of problems)

vid gen pcb:
- 74ls157 x 8 various locations *ALL were bad*
- 74ls283 x 3 various locations, all bad, causing graphics problems
- 74ls374 @G4 more sprite graphics problems
- 22pin RAM IC sockets x4 - more graphics problems
- interboard connector repairs and replacements, using IDE and pin headers


I give up, i simply cannot justify charging you any more for this. The cost of parts is high, and the cost of my time is much higher, but i know there has to be a limit that you spend, and i cannot remember what we discussed at the start (if anything).

I need to ask you for $250 just to cover the parts and to go towards my labour costs.

I had the game running, but with major sprite issues. Then the sprites got really bad covering the screen in red, and while i was looking for the cause of that, the game started resetting, and thats where it currently is. see the attached screenshot of the last fault it had.

I do not like to give up on repairs, especially rare ones like this, but i have to be practical, and move on with my life, this repair has taken up far too much of my time, and it continues to fail again and again, i'm fighting an up-hill battle.
